OUR COVID-19 RESPONSE

THE FAVELAS IN THE PANDEMIC...

Many household incomes, in the favela communities, have been reduced to zero as they are unable to travel to work, and families are falling further into poverty during the COVID-19 pandemic. No significant additional support is being made available to them by the Brazilian government.

HOW WE ARE SUPPORTING...

The Favela Foundation have committed to providing 100 families across two of Brazil’s favelas with three months’ supplies of cestas básicas – a care package of household basics with enough food, clean water and hygiene supplies to last for one month.

Additionally, we are working with our partners within the favelas to provide face-masks to as many residents as possible.

£2,000
will fund 2,000 face masks to people living in cramped conditions to protect from infection.

£5,000
will provide 300 packages supporting 300 families over 3 months

ROAD2RIO...

Over this lockdown period we had planned three fundraising campaigns, which have had to be cancelled.  The team have launched a virtual event and have committed to walk, cycle, run or crawl the distance from London to Rio de Janeiro, a total of 9,272kms!

How far we travelled...
